HK REVISITED
HK Revisited is an ongoing project that has encapsulated my photographic work in Hong Kong for the past ten years. Rather than documenting the social realities of this place, these photographs record habits, tensions, breakaways, or moments of contemplation. They construct a sensitive map of the floating entity I call Hong Kong. Here, I am an in-betweener who connects with its surroundings on different levels. What these photographs show is as important as what they don’t show. But isn’t it the nature of photography to exist in the duality of the seen and the unseen? I am also a wandering photographer, who acts on instinct, often quickly, and I seldom follow a clear direction. Making sense of things comes after. It is the practice that justifies the images, not the other way around. I am comfortable with this randomness. I composed this exhibition around the weather elements of Hong Kong. The rain, the heat, the wind, the fog, the humidity; how they affect the environment and change our perception.
